COMING ATTRACTIONS FOR UNAIDED EYES

The 50th and final edition of Coming Attractions for Unaided Eyes in the nite skies newsletter and on the PAS web page covered 2016 September 22 to October 18.  During the past four years I enjoyed contributing monthly descriptions and views of events that made the night sky even more interesting and dramatic.  My invaluable primary editor and reviewer, assisting me throughout, was my wife, an award-wining author.  Unfortunately, I received none of the corrections, questions, constructive comments, and suggestions I had hoped would make this material more interesting and applicable.  In the future, events of particular interest to unaided eyes may occasionally appear in the nite skies newsletter.

The following table lists eleven celestial attractions that will occur in the final two months of 2016.  And, yes, the Moon’s encounter with Aldebaran on December 12 will result in an occultation!  All times are Pacific Daylight or Standard Time in 24-hour format.
